Course Overview

This unit introduces the fundamental principles of motion, forces, and the mechanical properties of materials. Students learn to describe and analyse motion using kinematic equations, interpret motion graphs, and apply Newton's laws to a variety of contexts.

The study of forces includes equilibrium, moments, and the effects of friction. Energy concepts are explored through work, power, and conservation principles. The materials section examines stress, strain, and the Young modulus, linking microscopic structure to macroscopic behaviour.

Practical work reinforces theoretical understanding and develops skills in measurement, data analysis, and evaluation.
